Welcome to the first forum dedicated for hospitalists!
At the time this forum was started I am a second year resident in Internal Medicine and I am exploring the posibility of starting my hospitalist career. I feel that there is a need for such a community where hospitalists can discuss anything related to our job. Lets see!
Sincerely, Dumitru Rotaru

Hi Dumitru,
There is definitely a need for a forum like this, given the relative paucity of people like us, and our unique job demands and rewards! I have basically been working as a hospitalist for 2 years now, in a private hospital. I love it and find it immensely rewarding. I have never wanted to work in general practice, yet my circumstances didn't allow for speciality training. How about you?
Regards,
Alison.

Hi Alison,
Thanks for joining Hospitalist Forum!
There may be less hospitalists around the country today, about 7-8 k, however, by the end of the decade the number is predicted to be arround 20 k ... you should see then how busy our forums will be.
I glad to hear you love the hospitalist job. A question I often ask my attending doctors is what is about this job that they don't like or would like to change, any thought on this subject?
Regards! Dumitru

Hi there, I would like to congratulate for creating this forum, which will help us come together and discuss some common issues, about this hot and upcoming speciality. But I was disappointed to find very few members. I am sure, it will grow. I will try to invite few of my colleagues to this forum. I am about to complete Int Med residency on 06/30/2008. I am looking for an opportunity in a cancer hospital. I have dome Hem/Onc fellowship from India, followed by 11 years of job as an oncologist. Now I am looking for a job in a cancer hospital. I hope, I will get one. Any tips from the members will be appreciated. Regards, C Pai

Drpai, thanks for joining our forum. I hope too that we will get new members, appreciate your intention to invite other docs here.
I cannot imagine a hospital without cancer patients, as a hospitalist you will either diagnose new patients and refer them to onc or as I experienced in my hospital you follow patients with the oncologist for chemotherapy scheduled rounds.
I hope you will get the position you are looking for!
Regards!
